A pilot issue of The GeoRisk, a popular science journal, came out in December 2007.

Since that time, the journal has been released with a frequency of 4 issues per year.

Since February 2010, the journal has been included into the List of key peer-reviewed scientific journals and publications in which major research results of dissertations submitted for the scientific doctoral and candidate degrees are to be published.

Originally planned as a popular science journal, it became a unique in this country full-featured scientific publication by 2009 in which the issues of engineering and geological risk are covered, natural geological disasters are analyzed, and methods of prevention and mitigation of their consequences are proposed.

All issues contain full-color photographs of various geological disasters that have recently occurred worldwide, being a vivid illustrative material for the students of construction higher education institutions and departments in this country in which The GeoRisk is intensively used in the learning process.
